what is the significance of the yolk material to the developing individual?

the amphibian deposits its egg with all the nutrients it will ever have in its yolk.

mammals carry their eggs and the maturing baby, thus providing it with nutrients via the placenta. on a side note, monotremes, or egg-laying mammals provide their young with big yolks

The embryonic yolk is really just a source of nutrients for the developing embryo. It is crucial for amphibians as well as reptiles, fish, and birds since it will be the embryo's only source of nutrition until it hatches.

Mammals on the other hand do not rely on the yolk because they are carried to fetal maturation in their mothers' womb and are provided nutrients through the placenta.

One has a umbilical cord one does not ! Feeding of the embryos' is different . One carries the embryo to maturity and gives birth. The other lays eggs and leaves until (in some cases) they return to take care of the babies. Like crocodiles. Some never return. PS some snakes give live birth.

nutrition-the yolk supplies food and antibodies to the young amphibians-mammals supply it with milk-I sometimes suffer from yolk envy-here ya go see ya job done!

Coz mammals give birth,, and the egg ferilizes early of with spermatozoa...
In amphibian, they lay egg, and yolk is required to catch its counterpart outside... (Frog...)

female mamalian provide nutrients for the baby but amphibian does not.
