I have heard some that are good and some that totally sucked.

The ones I have seen have been really good - ABBA and Bee Gees tribute bands were excellent.
I am sure there are some real rip-off's out there but these 2 were well worth seeing and sounded (And almost looked like)the real thing.
The ones I saw were not big names - they were just doing the club circuit and I was really surprised how good they were.
So, in my experience - they made the grade.

depends on the quality of the act. i've seen a rolling stones tribute band who were brilliant and really funny, and they put on an amazing show, with several costume changes and different back drops, depending on the era of the song they were singing..... but some tribute bands are awful...... i've seen a Who tribute band, and they were really naff. it's the luck of the draw.

Love them, seen a few now and love them to bits, what a great atmosphere every concert i go to. The best thing is because they are not "the real mccoy" the concerts are usually held in smaller venues and you can great seats to see and hear all the action on stage and at the fraction of the cost for the real deal. Am A great fan lol :-)

generally disappointed.
But I did see a Springsteen tribute at the Olympia in Dublin two years ago & it was brilliant.
Just a 4 piece but they were better than the boss himself in many respects especially the lead vocal/guitar.

Most would leave you disappointed, a really talented musician would rather compose his own music!

i think they are pretty dissaponiting they never really sound that good they are always trying to impersionate too big of stars, i mean if they were that good they would have been sined up my a recording company!!!
