found a website and I agree totally with a lot of these...
1) "Vincent" - Don McLean: A ballad about Vincent Van Gogh's suicide and the pain of mental illness and acute sensitivity.
2) "Luka" - Suzanne Vega: Extremely depressing song about child abuse.
3) "Alone Again, Naturally" - Gilbert O'Sullivan: Man is left at altar, then his father dies, then his mother dies, then he decides to throw himself off a building. Unrelenting grimness.
4) "Fire and Rain" - James Taylor: Nice imagery in this song about a friend's suicide and his own train wreck of a life.
5) "The Needle and the Damage Done" - Neil Young: A memorable guitar lick starts this song about the heroin overdose and death of one of Young's band members.
6) "Tears in Heaven" - Eric Clapton's lament about the death of his son who fell to his demise from the window of his mother's flat.
7) "The River" - Bruce Springsteen: About a hopeless Blue Collar worker with bad work prospects, a dreadful marriage and no hope. Lifetime Achievement Award: Bruce Springsteen: all of his songs are depressing.
8) "At Seventeen" Janis Ian: Sad song about a lonely homely girl in High School looking back over all things that she had already missed, and speculating about her bleak future, because of her lack of pulchritude.
9) "One" - Metallica: This song is based upon one of the world's most depressing novels, Dalton Trumbo's, "Johnny Got His Gun" It is a stream of conscious song about a blind, deaf and dismembered war veteran
10) "Seasons in the Sun" - Terry Jacks - based on a translation of Jacques Brel song "Le Moribond." This is one of the worst songs ever performed but I guess you have to include a song about a dying man saying good bye to his friend, father and girlfriend. Any song that begins "Good bye, my love, it's hard to die ..." I guess belongs on the list.

2, By the country Band The Statler Brothers called "I got too much on my heart:, that song is really touching, esp since I heard it the first time, & founf otu the loser at the time i was dating ( and was soooooooo in love with) broke my heart with another girl. I heard that song & it got to me, & I ended up in the hospital from a drug overdose of my dads heart meds. Im lucky to be here still.

"Hurt", either the Nine Inch Nails or Johnny Cash version; is quite depressing. I happen to prefer the JC version, but they're both REALLY good.
