Is it true that in some parts of the world, like Spain and Italy, body hair, on women, was considered "sexy"?

Arm and leg hair were symbols of youth and fertility, or so I've heard. But, I don't know how far this is true.

There is a lot of pressure on women to conform to culturally specific ideas of beauty. We have billboards and magazines, advertisers and movies telling us all the time that it the only acceptable way for women to look is to be thin and to be hairless - it's nonsense!

Being hairy is connected with youth and fertility. Being hairless is a sign that a woman has not yet reached puberty and it's kind of sad that that is what is seen as sexually desirable by the majority of men.

Men in Mediterranean countries (like those you mention) seem to have a clearer idea of what a sexually mature woman looks like. They may realise that a woman who is happy with her body in its natural state will be more relaxed in bed than one who has been plucked and waxed into an advertisers dream and is more worried about how she looks than how she feels.

Im an American but have lived in Europe (Germany) for the last 4 years. The culture and attitude of the people in Italy and Spain, are completely different from the lifestyle of America for example. I was in both countries and even now a days you will see a couple attractive women with some body hair. Under the arms, perhaps a little on the legs. I think that in their culture they are more relaxed and accept the natural phenomenon of body hair on females. To an extent of course. Its not like all the women in Italy and Spain are running around looking like bears. But there are a few. But I wouldnt say it is considered sexy. Its not like a spanish girl who wants to fbe sexy says to herself..."Damn my underarm hair isnt long enough, Im so Ugly". Body hair on women are more accepted in the countries. But no it is not and has not been in the last 20 years a sign of sexiness. With that said, you would be amazed at the beautiful women in both countries.

Yes, many European women do not shave their arms legs, nor their arm pits. Its considered natural and yes sort of attractive. another thing, in Japan, women shave their face! forehead, cheeks, under the chin, and neck line so as not to show stray hair. If they don't, they will when they get married! Any woman wearing a wedding kimono will shave to get the white chalk like foundation to sit on her skin. Furthermore, the Japanese will shave their arms as well, not to show hairiness, which is considered unfeminine. So there you go! to each his own!

Hair is a vestigial biological artifact in women. Just like men have non-functioning nipples, women have some body hair. It may be natural but it is gross. Vomit and feces are natural too, but I don't want to see them. In some parts of the world, it is considered sexy. That's great, Just keep it over there!

Ewww which real red bloodied man would want a hairy momma, my man sure would have a lot to say to me if i were hairy, which i dont have that problem thank God...... a woman who has more hair than her man....perish the thought....but then again if it is considered to be sexy in certain countries good luck to them....i have heard that French women are always hairy, and that men like it.......all i say is each to their own.

its true...once my english teacher freshman year, pointed at some kid, and i saw her armpit through the sleeve of her shirt, and it was loaded with black hair. I guess some guys think that's hot. However, I didn't want to see Ms. Devaud's grimy armpits.
