If you check the figures, you will see more Republicans have sons/daughters in the war zone than do the Democrats.
Use to be a time when military service was a rite of passage to manhood, now they run to Canada. I think if in the best intrest of the countrys defense, then bring back the draft. Also think people running for any Federal Office should have military service.
As for me? Spent 8 years in the military and went overseas 4 times. My Daughter is also in the Air Force and scheduled to deploy next year. What a shame when a woman has more courage than a lot of "men".
It also amazes me, the ones saying Iraq is unjust and illegal are the same ones calling for the U.S. to send troops into Dafur.

So many people are for this liberation/war, yet everyone seems to be against the draft. Look at the stink people made about Kerry insulting the troops, yet the overall consensus seems to be no draft. How can you support the war and our troops but be unwilling to serve or have your son or daughter serve? Isn't that a bit of a double standard? I'm old enough to remember getting my draft number for the Viet Nam conflict. You should be scared. In my opinion, either re-instate the draft or get out of Iraq. Peace.

I was against the draft before and still am. We're a nation of laws although most are not enforced. However, I guarantee the draft WILL be enforced, this time they'll probably draft women to. I wouldn't be shocked if they drafted senior citizens as well. I have a 56 year old Army Veteran family member who has lung cancer and heart trouble, they asked him to go back in.
Actually I'm not ready to take it serious yet, I think the idea was brought up in sarcasm to drive a point home to Bush, I think the politician has Bush's daughters in mind.

The first to be drafted must be the kids of the politicians to show the people that they are serious about deploying soldiers in upcoming wars. It is leadership by example.

I am against the idea of a draft because there is no point in forcing people to fight a war or join the military if they don't want to.

I don`t want it because I have 3 boys 21 to 24. But I think because of BUSH and his irresponsible arrogance and how he has handled decisions and the shape he has gotton this world in I think it is inevitable. We must to be able to protect ourselves !!! I hate to say it but we need the man power behind Bushes mouth. You never know who`s business he is ganna butt into next or who he is ganna piss off next. He is like a walking TIME BOMB to the American people.

they wouldnt do that. they know this war has no meaning... they shouldnt have th people over there now fighting for no reason. the only reason they dont is because the government knows that our opinions of them are so low, that if they DID reinstate the draft, there would be a HUGE backlash.....

I think it's ignorant. Plain and simple.... The men we have over seas right now shouldn't even be there, why should we FORCE our husbands/ fathers/brothers/sons into fighting an unjust cause that most Americans don't even agree with?
