Try a citrus based solvent stain remover. You can find them in the cleaning aisle in the supermarket or on ebay. They can most likely be found in Home Depot or Loews too.
Pre-soak your jeans in this where the deisel got on them.
Give the jeans at least 15 - 30 minutes to soak before you put them in the washer. Use a good detergent and the heavy duty cycle , that has the longest washing time. When you take the jeans out of the wash let them line dry. If the deisel smell is still there try the pre soak and wash them again.

Hi, See if you can find simple green at the store, you should be able to let the jeans soak in the soultion of simple green and water over night. Simple green is biodegradable, and should not affect the color of the jeans at all. Then wash as normal

There's a website that suggests vinegar, but the major agreement seems to be eucalyptus oil.
other suggestions, wash your clothes with a can of coke..
leaving your clothes in the machine with a cup of ammonia, don't pour it on though!! And also putting your jeans in a bag with unbruised apples for a few days.
Another person suggested throwing the jeans out they said they had a friend who washed gasoline out their clothes (or so they thought) and had them catch on fire and destroy thier house, and give thrid degree burns to the children when they put the clothes in the dryer to dry.
