hey,
I work in Financial sector, when you have a default, if you pay for it, it will take 6 months after the date you paid in full.
make sure you contact experain and equafax after six months and see if they took it off your file, best way to view your credit file contact these two companies either online or phone them and ask them to send you your report. it will only cost £2 to find out.
If you don't clear it, it will be there all the time forever.
take my advise and pay little by little and clear your name because it si not worth it.
bast of luck

They can last anything form 2 years upto 6 years, depending on the creditor. Once you have paid a creditor (be it direct or through a Debt collection agen/company), they are obliged to inform the necessary credit reference agency within 28 days.

The record though will stay on your credit file for up to 6years, although the status will be set as 'satisfied'. Ensure you obtain a letter (of satisfaction) from the creditor/agency stating that your outstanding account has been fully settled.

When they have been paid you can request that it is added on the default to show that it has been dealt with.

6 years. You can access your credit score via www.experian.com (or .co.uk?). In some cases you can even clear the bad credit score yourself.
