Yeah, you guessed it. Burned the popcorn in the microwave. Have cleaned it with baking soda, then tried boiling vinegar water, even a mixture of spices. Smell is less, but still there. Any other suggestions of how to "sweeten" the microwave to tolerable or just gone? Thanks for helping with suggestions!

Did you spray your various mixtures in the microwave and then run it? I've cleaned some bad stuff out of microwaves merely by spraying the inside with water, running it for a minute, and then wiping it out.

I'd also try a used fabric softener sheet if the water doesn't work. Do the water thing again and wipe out the microwave with a sheet. Those suckers work for EVERYTHING. I use them to wipe off my shower door. It removes soap scum instantly. I've also used them to clean severely burned pans.

Get a bowl of water and a couple lemons. Cut up the lemons and add them to the bowl of water. Microwave for about 3-4 minutes.

Ugh! I've done this....the smell is horrible. Mix baking soda with water and mic. for 3 minutes. Leave the door open until it airs out.

Gosh...this may be a long shot, but the first thing that popped to mind was to make up a thick mixture of baking soda and water, then microwave it for a bit. Careful to watch it, as burned baking soda can only serve to worsen the problem...

...or microwave a CD. It'll cover up the smell with burned plastic instead... :)

After you've done everything to "air it out" leave the door open for a few nights.

open the door - and put a fan in it to air it out?

basically you have already used the best thing "baking soda", now all you can do is wait it out or buy a new one. They cost approx. $40-$50 @ Walmart Stores.
