It says that sinful man disobeyed and sin was allowed to flourish.
As for your question, I had it answered to me in this way by a high school science teacher (when questioned about evolution). He said that man was made in the image of God in that man was given intelligence. The "image" was a mental image, not a physical one. I'm not sure how strongly I agree with that statement, but it's one I never forgot.

Creating something in your image doesn't mean that they are the same. Sculptors create things in other peoples' image all the time, but you wouldn't say that a statue is the same as a person.
God created Man in his image to symbolize that of all His creations, we are the closest to him. He gave us free will so that we would not be automatons or slaves. The love of a slave is meaningless. Since we have free will, we are able to do good or evil: it's our choice. God is not evil, nor can He do evil.
What does this say about God? I don't think that any of us are in a position to judge His actions, unless we know everything that He does and why He does them.
I think that the state that Man is in, is less an indictment of God, but more of a bad report on what we've done with what He's given us.

Well, no......
Let's revisit, shall we?......
The mirror is God and Christ.... Remember, without him was not anything made that was made.......
We are the reflection between the two of them... as we are the work that Christ did when God said, "let there be-"........ That's when the work began.... and Christ was the one.....
No wonder he came as a carpenter, huh?!!!
Anyhoo.... There can be no reflection without an original. However, even the original must reflect some other.... and that is Christ......
What is between them, is mankind.... it is the work.....
What is within men, is that image to which you refer......
and it is inumerable.... That reflection continues even to a minute image.....
Those "boxes" which become smaller with each successive continuation, is mankind to the nearest generation......
It is written: "My spirit shall not always strive with men"...... So, says God to Christ....... so men's life span was shortened..... Because he is also flesh... Not just spirit, but also flesh......
In the last days, men will not be committed to God......So to strive with God requires faith.... and in these day, those "tiny boxes" are smaller and smaller.... and smaller........
Just keep in mind, that he image of God, is not flesh....... God is a spirit....... Something which we have of Him within ourselves... so we think and reason... But, we are not Him...... Of Him... .Not Him.
your sister,
Ginger

As I find it difficult to believe in God, my answer is the other way around.
Since man imagined God, he knew no better than himself ........ that is why there is this contradiction of mirror image on the one hand and the attributes of omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent on the other hand........ the concept of God is the greatest proof of immense human imperfection even in imagination!!

From my limited understanding on this I feel that God created man as a miniature God. Which means that you have been given powers to create, power to love, power to manifest, power to gain knowledge, consciousness, power of beauty and also freewill to choose your path. All these are supposed to be gods attributes which are also present in humans. Hence quality wise we are similar to God, god may be compared to the Sun and humans to candle lit from the same sun.

that's what man likes to think, he`s godlike. history proves we
are animals. only when, with our free will we call on the light of
God to show us truth. i think God loves us and until we love
back we`re not connected to that image ...
