My sister in law died yesterday in a car wreck. A man fell asleep and hit her head-on, she died instantly. In my husbands immediate family there were just two boys, no girls. My sister in law and brother in law have been married for 36 years, my husband and I 26 years. She was so much more like his parents. I feel inadequet to be the only daughter in law in this family. She was better at so many more things than I am especially cooking. Thanksgiving she cooked the dinner because our in laws are their late 80's. Do I step up now and take care of everyone?

I'm sorry about your sister in law. :(

Please don't feel guilty about this. If you want to step up and take care of the family, you can. But only if you want to.

honey don't feel bad your just grieving in a diff way. No don't feel the need to do that...the family is not looking for a replacement for the other sister-i-l. Right now they just need you to sit and cry along w/them. Step in where you can...but you are putting to much on yourselve thinking you need to fill in for her. Right now though just grieve with the family. That is where you are needed. Trust me.

I'm sorry for your loss, and think that the fact you are thinking about helping the rest of the family cope is commendable.
Do what you can, that is what love is all about...

It would be real nice if you could. If you don't feel like you can, try some more distant family members to see if they have any advice.
