It means that life is too short to worry about things that are trivial.
Try not to be pessimistic, cynical and negative ALL THE TIME. It's a waste of time and energy.

Basically don't freak out if something goes wrong or if you embarrass yourself, one day you'll look back and laugh. I think it's probably better to say don't take yourself too seriously rather than life. There's probably a certain amount of seriousness you should adopt for your life if you want to go places, just don't worry if it doesn't go to plan.

db has an excellent answer. I would add the key ingredient, however: humor. Always keep a sense of joy, laughter, fun, humor, irony, whatever -- things are weird and strange and happen for no apparent reason..........THIS IS NOT A TEST......THIS IS YOUR LIFE -- WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO, ACCOMPLISH, ETC., ETC.???
