i was on b.c for almost 2 years, and i have been off of it since like the end of september, and i got pregnant a few weeks ago. so why is it that i keep reading all these things on here saying that it takes like a year to get pregnant after comming of b.c?? and if its supposed to take so long, than why do the doctors say that if you miss a pill you are more fertile?

Everybody's different. On some birth control, it can take someone up to 2 years to get pregnant again. However, not usually the case with the pill. Most women will have a higher chance of getting pregnant right away, when coming off the pill. Some women take 2+ years to get pregnant, even when they didn't use any form of bc besides condoms anyways. I actually got pregnant on the pill, twice. Took it every day on time and everything. Just turns out some women are more fertile than others too.

It took me 3 years after coming off where my friend got pregnant the 2 month. It all depends on your body. I believe doctors say that in a way to scare you into not forgetting.

As with all things, every one is different. It depends on the strength of the pill, and what's going on with the man and woman. Some women are more fertile, some men have supersperm!

Its not that you cant get pregnant its that there can be complications as is low birth weight, heart murmurs, still birth, etc, etc, miscarriages, etc etc I'm sure you get the point, with some BC's it may be that it does not allow the ability for a short time after not taking it but havent seen results that say it takes a year

it depends on a persons body. some women it can take that long to get pregnant others they are pregnant the next day. It is all about how the body excepts the outside hormones and can return itself to normal.

All I can say is my wife was on B.C. and we are expecting our son any day now. So it sounds like to me that it is probably very different for each individual.

when you are on any type of contraceptive pill/patch the best thing to do if you want to get pregnant is wait for your second period to come after that you are safe i.e if your body is ready to get pregnant you will (not every woman is the same, some get preg first time making love some after 5 yrs!) its not in our hands!

I think that it is (obviously) possible to get pregnant right away, but it takes longer for most women.
