There's A Number Of Different Versions Of The GameBoy Advance:
There's The Older, Bigger GameBoy Advance That Had No Backlight (barely available anymore, and probably a good thing)
And The GameBoy Advance SP, Which Is A Better Version With It's Clam-Shell Design And Nice Backlight (and there's actually a newer version of that with an even brighter screen)
Then There's The Cool And Stlylush GameBoy Micro, A Very, Very Small GameBoy That Features A Great Screen (while somehow made smaller) And Changable Faceplates.
All Have An Original Tag Price Of $99.99, Eventually Going Down To $89.99, But Now, Stores Generally Sell It For $79.99..
But It Actually Goes Cheaper: Special Promotions Or Used Units Can Cost As Low As $50, And Lower!
Over The Black Friday, Wal*Mart And Toys 'r' Us Sold Them For A Little Over $30!
Generally, Kids Under 10 Will Enjoy The GameBoy, With Many Titles Geared Towards Them, They'll Find Something They Will Like For Hours On End For Usually $29.99 Each Game..
If You're Looking For A Cheap Handheld System This Year To Give, GameBoy Advance Is A Good Way To Go For Those Without Deep Wallets..
For More On GameBoy, See The Following (1) (2) (3)
But If You Want To Spend A Bit More On Something They Might Like A Little More, Seek For A Nintendo DS (4), Which Features 2 Screens, One A Touch Screen, And Better Graphics, And Also Plays GameBoy Advance Games For $129.99 (you can probably find a lower price with all these holiday sales), And Games Are Also Generally $29.99 (usually more to $34.99 for new games, sometimes less to $19.99).

Instead of getting them a Gameboy Advance, get them a Nintendo DS, the Gambeboy Advance (GBA) is an older model that is in its final moments. The Nintendo DS is the current model of hand held that Nintendo is backing. The DS comes in two versions, the Nintendo DS for $99 and the Nintendo DS Lite for $129. The DS Lite is a new and thinner version compared to the regular DS, but its main problem is that it's not as durable as the DS. As for being good for someone below 7 years of age, yes, the great thing about Nintendo products is that people of any age can enjoy them.
