Why didn't they play as expected?

Spain - with world class players like raul and torress and great coach , attack , defense , midfield and gameplan , they still missed easy chances , they should have reached the quarters at least . i was happy after they crushed ukraine 4-0 but after that they never looked the same side .

Czech Republic -Same story as same . dfeated u.s.a , but lost to ghana !! ghana is a good emerging team but that time czech republic was ranked in top 5 and they should have defeated ghana . not attacking gameplan , poor display, poor defence , poor coaching are some reason .




Mexico - I really thought they would do a good job , but they were disappointing . They never took control of the games they played and they lost possession so easily .








Netherlands - Everything was poor , just 1 good match and then they never look that netherlands again . Got pressurized so easily , poor midfield .


There were also other teams like Ivory Coast and U.S.A .

1- England didnt play as expected in spite of being a good team. They were one of my fav.

2- Brasil played as expected. I didnt surprised for them.

3- Germany didnt play as expected. They surprised me by their success. I mean their being 3rd of the cup is success.

4- Argentina played as expected. They were not enough for WC2006.

5- Portugal surprised me that being the 4th of the cup is good for them.

6- France is the team which surprised me the most!!! Playing for the final is an unbelievable success for them.

7- Italy played as expected. They showed the world again that they are the best tournament team.

I wish the final teams were Italy vs England...

I didnt really think USA played well. Because usa has other sports and other opritunities. Unlike europeans they mostly play soccer. The world cup is there Super Bowl.

Czech Republic played good. They beat USA. i watched it in school. And its odd how Czech Beat USA. USA tied with italy only because Zaccardos foolish goal on his own team. And Czech wasnt in the semi finals. But Italy won the world cup.

JAPAN, being grouped together with BRAZIL, CROATIA & AUSTRALIA in Group F of the 2006 FIFA World Cup gives them a realistic chance of progressing to the round of 16.

after taking the lead against AUSTRALIA in the first match, they could not hold on to the lead & eventually lost the decisive match 3-1. JAPAN then barely managed a draw against CROATIA in a dull match & lost to once mighty BRAZIL, 4-1. ironically, JAPAN took the lead before losing 4-1 & crash out disappointingly.

Ivory coast isn't a darkhorse group. Darkhorses like North Korea, New zealand.. jk i think of South Korea, Denmark and South Africa South Korea to around of sixteen, Denmark to Quarter very final, and South Africa to Quarter very final
