first of all, odds are NEVER given as a fraction. They are always a RATIO probabilities are either given as a fraction, decimal or percentage if team one is booked at 5 : 6 then probability is 5/11 or team one is booked at 20 : 21 20 / 41 or if there is a 5/6 probability of team one winning then the odds are 5 : 1 of them winning 20 / 21 20 : 1

First convert to a decimal. This is not hard. Just move the percent sign 2 spaces to the left.

17% = 0.17
73% = 0.73

The numerals in the decimal will be the numerator...upper number of the fraction...then count the number of digits to the right of the decimal point. That will tell you how many zeroes to put in the denominator...lower number of the fraction.

17% = 0.17 = 17/100
73% = 0.73 = 73/100

If the percent is less than 10% you have to put a zero after the decimal point.

9% = 0.09 = 9/100

Any digit or digits to the left of the decimal are whole numbers.

42.5% = 0.425 = 425/1000
5.39% = 0.0539 = 539/10000
113% = 1.13 = 1 13/100

An odd percentage would be written as a fraction by simply dividing it by 100.

e.g. 39% = 39/100 (Cannot be reduced)

25% = 25/100 = 1/4

Any percentage can be expressed as a Decimal fraction: -

e.g. 39% = 39/100 = 0.39

etc ...

What do you mean by odd % ? Any % can be converted into fraction by taking that number {%} as numerator and 100 as denominator.

put the percentage over 100, because all percents are out of 100.

example:

25% = 25 / 100

then reduce the fraction. both divide by twenty - five = 1 / 4

there you go.

By odd I assume you mean a silly one?

Like 34% of 943 or similar?

Remember that a percentage is merely how many 100th's of the whole number you want. So.......

34% = 34 100th's, or 34 divided by 100 = 0.34

Then to find 0.34 of 943, you just multiply 943 by 0.34 to get your answer.

Which in this case is 320.62

Just put your own numbers into the above and you will get it right every time.

Happy homework!!

:-)
