Don't feel like you have to stick with any old Anniversary traditions.

Try giving her something to remind her of your wedding like a wedding photo in a beautiful engraved frame or a dinner like one you shared on your honeymoon. Share a dance to your wedding song.. I'm assuming you remember what it was.

Or take her to wherever you proposed ( assuming it wasn't at home) and tell her you'd marry her all over again every year for the rest of your life, and that you love her more than you can really say with words.

Good luck and congrats.. the 1rst year can be the hardest. I'm 1/2 way through to year 5.

The first anniversary is paper soo...
A card (fits the paper part) & a big bunch of her favorite flowers -usually red roses are synominous with love (flowers are not a waste, just like guys like their beer or pepsi that doesn't last long) & if she likes more, anything that you know she's really into.
I'll try to think of something unique for the paper part & add it later. Hope it's wonderfully romantic! :-)

the first anniversary is a paper anniversary, get her a nice big scrap book kit and let her build a scrap book of your life, you might include some scrap book classes at a local scrap book shop, a nice little diamond necklace doesnt hurt either. lol.

I asked mine what she wanted plain and simple. I got her that and added to it. Of course dinner, flowers and a card but then I planned a sunset dessert over looking the lake at sunset. Things like that don't cost a lot of money but they are the things that she will remember for the rest of her life.

romantic dinner, overnight at a small inn on the coast, flowers and overall romantic evening...during that night tell her all the reasons why you married her and love her (over a bottle of wine ).

Whatever little gift you feel..But I think the first one should be like what I outlined
