GREECE ARE GLORIOUS ***EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS***.
RIGHT NOW THEY THREE TEAMS PLAYING IN EUROPE. PANATHINAIKOS HAS A GOOD CHANCE TO WIN THE UEFA AND AEK JUST BEAT AC MILAN AND WILL BE ADVANCING MOST PROBABLY TO THE KNOCK OUT STAGE OF THE CHAAMPIONS LEAGUE.

I only know Olympiakos (the one Rivaldo plays for... does he still play for them?). That and the Greek national soccer team. I think a lot of people saw Greek football on the rise in 2004 when the Greek national soccer (or football) team won Euro 2004. After that, though, I think people haven't highly regarded Greece as a football force to be reckoned with.

Greece is great , they are the European champion in 2004 beat the host Portugal in final 2-1 . After the 2006 World Cup, the Greek team fell in the World ranking from 20th in May to 32nd in July. This fall put them near the ranking they had before winning Euro 2004.
About the club , I only know the big club like Panathinaikos , AEK Athens and Olympiakos . And the players i know like Giorgios Samaras and Angelos Charisteas .

AEK Athens, Olympiakos CP Piraues & Panathinaikos are the so-called big three in the Greek league. each season, the league title will go to one of these teams. they also compete regularly in the UEFA Champions' League but little progress shown so far.
this season, AEK Athens surprise victory over AC Milan has really give the Greek side something to cheer as they attempt to qualify for the knock-out stage.
as for the national team, the 2004 UEFA European Championship victory in PORTUGAL was very unexpected to say at least. prior to this success, they have not won any matches in major tournament finals. but the success of 2004 could not turn their good fortunes into the World Cup, where they finished a distance 4th in the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, UEFA European Group 2 behind UKRAINE, TURKEY & DENMARK.
overall, the Greek football is now improving, at club level & the national team. let's hope that GREECE will be in the 2008 UEFA European Championship final to defend their crown.

I know Panathinaikos, Olympiakos and AEK are the big and the most important teams in Greece as our Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş.
Paok, Xanthi, Aris Saloniki, Panionios and Iraklis are the other good teams which earned me good money:)))

AEK Athens.. They are not bad. Very courageous players. In fact they won the EURO 2004 - European tournament that's held every four years - As teams I'd say they are in the middle of all europeans teams..
