I think we have gotten out of touch with our social network. Life is so busy now, we don't always have time to be with other people, friends, etc... People used to go to church, and chat with their neighbors, have family living close.
Social networks were bigger in the past. Now we expect our partner to meet all of our needs. We need a spouse, a lover a best friend, confidante and mentor.
And because we don't have the time to nurture relationships with people who might fill some of these roles, we need our partner to fill all of these shoes. Which is a pretty tough thing to expect from another person. Don't you think?
