so you want to be a professional gambler? nothing wrong with that.
I am presuming that you are thinking about playing in a casino, not lottery tickets.
If lottery tickets, no. Mathematically it is almost impossible to win.
Casino gambling, you can do.
Just a couple of things to think about--
1. Do you live in a state where casino gambling is allowed, or do you live close enough to actually drive every day?
2. If yes to #1, do you or are you willing to learn the odds of your favorite game? that way, you know if you are able to win that round or not, mathematically.
3. What do you need to earn per hour in order to live?
Add up rent, car, insurance, food, clothing, and other expenses and divide it by how many hours you are planning on gambling per month. If that amount is reasonable, go for it.
Whatever you decide, have fun.

Hi,
This is definitely a personal decision. There is a very well-known book on the subject by David Slansky called "How to be a Professional Gambler". A lot of people have done it successfuly, but many more have tired lost all their money. After reading the book, I think you should have enough information to make a decision.
In any case, GOOD LUCK!!!

No! Better idea- keep your job, and gamble wisely, on the side, to complement your steady income. That way, if you win big, that's great, but if you burn out, at least you still have your job.

You should absolutely go for it. You say that nothing but a stake is stopping you. That means no wife, no kids, no mortgage. So I Say, if you are responsible only to yourself -go for it!
