I am a 23 year-old female (although I am told I look about 18 or 19) and I am 5'2" and I weigh 95 lbs. I have weighed that for about 2 yrs. now. I eat like any other person does who is of average weight, but I know I am supposed to be at least 110 lbs. Before I asked on here how to gain weight, since that has not worked, now my question is: is this normal? I have gotten tested for hyperthyroidism and I don't have it. I menstruate regularly so I know I can't be that unhealthy. I really don't understand why for a 23 year-old I weigh just 95 lbs., it really does not make sense b/c in highschool at age 16 I weighed 106! I am back to the same weight that I was at age 14! Does any1 else have this problem? When I go the doctor they don't even mention my weight. Is this normal in anyone else's opinion? Is this just the way I'm "meant to be"? The media bashes Nicole Richie and say she is the same height/weight as me (maybe a couple pounds less) and I don't look THAT thin!

Weight is different for every person. I would say considering you are eating healthfuly, you are menstrating, and you have had your thyroid checked, that you shouldn't worry about it. You can always make a dr's appointment and see for sure if you like, but I don't think it's necessary. Clearly, you have been taken steps to ensure you are healthy and I think you can assume that you are.

You are normal as long as you are healthy, feel well and are eating well. The fact that you are menstruating and you have always been naturally thin tells me that you are probably meant to be petite. There is such a thing as a naturally small, thin adult woman. (It's very common in Asian women.) And thin people have a lower mortality rate than even "average" people overall (health is the important thing).
Also, you probably will slowly gain weight as you get older, so I wouldn't recommend trying too hard to gain weight right now.
I have had a similar situation. I am 31, 5'3" and 105 soaking wet (should be at least 110). I weighed 98lbs until I became pregnant, and shed most of the weight almost instantly. (I've had two kids.) I look 22...I think my small frame has a lot to do with it.
I used to wish I was more curvy and full, but now that I'm getting older I appreciate my petite girly body and flat stomach...and so does my husband.
(Nicole Richie gets criticized because she is extremely thin and she wasn't always that way.)
Try not to worry and enjoy being healthy.

the ingredient that is strange about it truly is that you weighed better 2 years in the past and now you weigh a lot less and also you've been already at style of a low weight on your top. My cousin is 5'a million" and one hundred and 5 pounds and she seems truly, truly skinny. i imagine it also relies upon on you muscular tissues too because some human beings look in good structure at one weight at the same time as others look heavier. see you later as you're eating outstanding then i do not see something incorrect. How did you loose he weight initially? you ought to were determining or reducing energy? otherwise weight does no longer usually purely come off you want that. If it did, i might want to easily bypass to the well-being practitioner and get you blood examined for each thing, even STD's. a large style of clinical issues might want to reason weightloss.

I wouldn't worry your skinny but I am guessing your small boned and your very petite. You probably have a super fast metoblism. Just keep fit and healthy and eat right...don't forget to splurge and you will be fine.

I was 5'2" and 100 pds before I had kids. Then I shot up in weight, could NOT come back down and shot back up again higher (w/2nd baby) then after my 2nd weight just melted off and the DR told me my metabolism got back on track. I have always ate and ate and burned. He said that was normal.....for my age I am smaller but the DR said I "did good" but funny thing is I did nothing. It's all about metabolism and how your burn.

The moral is enjoy your super skinny self....because w/age your metabo will slow down!! LOL

if you really want to gain more weight it is not that hard girl...just eat a LOT more and you will gain weight. Eating sugary and or high fat foods will make it happen faster. Any time you don't feel full eat a really unhealthy snack. Drink lots and lots of sodas [nondiet sodas] and fry everything....including the soda! People act like it is actually hard to gain weight...but it's not...they just don't change their eating habits enough and then complain they aren't gaining weight.

If you want to actually gain weight in a healthy way you could get more exercise and or strength train so you are gaining muscle and not fat. Since muscle weighs more than fat you will actually gain weight faster by gaining muscle.

Do you exercise often,or very active. that has a lot to do with weight. As long as your healthy and have no other problems, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Don't worry about anybody else's opinion. If your serious about putting on weight, you will have to intake more calories than you burn off in a day. Eat something before bed. What's normal anyway?

WOW... so many women would love to have your "problem". I am not a doctor but I think if you feel good physically, eat a healthy diet, have no health problems you are just fine. If your doctor were concerned he/she would be the best to judge. If it really bothers you set an appointment for a full physical exam and discuss your concerns. A full physical exam would reveal things the doctor may not be looking for and would tell the doctor you are serious.

Depending on your family history and your general body frame, I'd say that is about normal. Your short stature and normal eating habits means you just might have high metabolism and/or family history of light weight for body frame. As long as you don't have any health problems, I'd say you should be fine!

I wouldn't worry much about it if your Dr.'s don't seem to be concerned. You may be small boned and therefore don't look like Nichole Richie.

To me, you are the PERFECT size, but that's just a personal preference.
