I know it is a band, I m talking about the exact meaning of bowling for soup or bowling for ****, bowling as a word is bowling game right?, but in this title "bowling for soup" what does really mean? just playing for getting soup/sh** or no it is more than that.

do band names have to mean something? i think the guys just saw it from somewhere and thought it was cool. besides, it's the music that counts, right? i love their song "almost."
