log x^3 = log 27^4
x^3 = 27^4
(x^3)^(1/3) = (27^4)^(1/3)
x = 27^(4/3)
x = 3^4
x = 81

convert to exponential

x = (27) ^4/3 = 81

without calculator

27 = 3 ^3 and (3^3) ^4/3 = 3^4 = 81
