A relative confessed to being raped 20 yrs ago as a child by another relative. They both never showed charcteristics of anything. Can a physician tell at what age that child's first sex encounter was after 20 yrs?

Not unless the child was extremely young and had severe damage that left scarring. That still wouldn't prove who hurt the child, or how old the child was at the time they were attacked.

Perhaps a Certified Professional Clinical Hypnotherapist could help?

Call the Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network (RAINN), the counselors there will connect you with a crisis center in your local area -- as they do for countless victims of sexual assault all over the country -- and they can help you make this important decision. The toll-free number is (800) 656-4673.

Usually, depending on the infection, the doc can tell if something was happening that shouldn't be (sexual abuse). Just because you only have people who are your family who you trust change her doesn't mean that someone isn't abusing her (like someone who just comes over). Although, I do think that this is a normal reaction for a child. My daughter who is three and not potty trained outside the house doesn't like to be wiped there either. And she doesn't stay with anyone but me, daddy, grandmom, and her little brother! I don't suspect anything untoward going on, I just think she doesn't like the feeling of wiping that area. I would still take her to the doc and see if she does have an infection. It could be yeast or something that comes naturally and it will just take some meds to clear it up.

Not really. Unless the rape was very damaging to the victim physically, there is not a lot of physical things left after 20 years. Emotional scars are another thing though. They can last a lifetime.

No. Or a week ago, for that matter. Sometimes we get lucky and find sperm on a fresh exam, for instance, and perhaps some bruising to suggest the sex might not have been consensual, but there's really not much magic in the rape exam.

Not to the best of my knowledge. Because all cell in humans grow and 20 years is a pretty long time to probe and get any concrete evidence except what they tell.

No, not unless you were scarred in some what that suggest a traumatic injury. More than the question of a M.D. being able to tell ..............have you dealt with this matter? Have you had any counseling? Have you talked to anyone about this? Please consider seeing a rape crisis counselor. Everything is confidential.

that is somewhat impossible, the only way a doctor or a forensic examiner can determine a case of rape is if they find semen of the rapist in the victim's body, simple as that and i don't think after 20 years there'd still be a trace of the rapist's semen in her.

no, there is no way to tell the age when someone has sex, but if there was damage if the child was really young with penetration there could be scars or scar tissue that would show.

not on this planet
this is something that can only be told .and has to be believed.
but is it worth it ,to drag everything up again ,the cure maybe worse than the complaint.
almost every body has been molested by a relative at some point.
that is what relatives do
a very ,very common ocurance

No one can tell, not even a Dr., so keep your mouth shut. The information, if let out, can only ruin lives and relationships.
