I was just wondering for what purpose flies on jeans were initially made for. Were they really designed for guys to pee out of? Or was it to make them easier to put on? Or something else?

I'm no expert, but I believe *zippered* flies on jeans were a convenience for peeing, as opposed to button-front jeans. And, yeah, for getting them on, as well as off........

they didn't have zipper machines in the early day...and a broken buton, was easier to fix...than a broken zipper....
