You have to apply to the court for the expungement. Many public defender offices will handle the expungement for you if you can't afford an attorney. I know for a fact that the San Francisco Public Defender does. It's called the Clean Slate program.

Get a lawyer. Without one your chances are somewhere south of zero. No sense wasting time on trying to do that paperwork until you know if your conviction is even eligible for expungement. Not all are.

You'd need to contact the state to see what laws there are regarding that. I know in some states, if not most, unless it's a juvenile offense, they cannot be expunged unless the governor grants a pardon.

Request the court for a list of the requirements and prove that the crime was long served. That you have a clean slate and request for the expungement of the offense.

I think you should get it expunged just for using the word expunged.

if it was not a juvenile felony or non violent then you can not ex-plunge it from your criminal history. consult a lawyer and he can help you way better than anyone one on yahoo answers. plus each law is different state by state, i just know in Oklahoma you can't remove it if it was a serious felony.
