I am 30 weeks and not sure if I am having a boy or girl. The babies father wants a strong name if it's a boy, he says Nathanial is not strong and is too girly, but it would be a middle name...what do you think?

i think the only power in life is absolute control over naming your child. they ask the mother to name the child. not the father.

I really love the name Jacob even thought Jacob in the Bible was a trickster. Names usually goes with the persons personality. I like the name Nathanial, but I know 2 Nathanial's who are gay.

Jacob is an excellent strong name. Nathanial is also good, classic but the two together have really strong religious connotations. However maybe thats your thing

Try these

Jacob Michael
Jacob Edward (old school...)
Jacob Robert

I think Jacob Nathanial is a great name...to me strong names are the ones that have been around through the the ages...Like Brian Daniel, or Jon Michael...the newer trend in names like skyler, payton, ian...they aren't as strong to me.

The only thing to watch out for with Jacob Nathanial is he could have a nickname "Jake Nate"

I have a nephew named Jacob Paul. And another nephew named Nathan Lee. Love both names. My sons name is Caleb. I like the name Nathanial. It does not sound gay!

I also prefer "strong" boys names(my kids are Mitchell David and Jacob Michael...they go by Mitch and Jake) I'm not loving Nathanial, but it is only going to be the middle name. We went with my hubby's first and middle names for our boys middle names...and my grandma's first name for our daughter's middle. Congrats and good luck

You could look into history for famous Jacob's or Nathanial's and decide for yourself if it's a strong name. My son's name is Jacob and he is all boy :)

I think it's a strong name and I wouldn't worry about him being one of 60 Jacobs in his class because Jacob is not used that much anymore. Nathaniel is the name I'm going to name my boy that's due any day now so I LOVE it.

I like Nathanial. It's a classic name. I think it sound smart. Jacob is a very common name these days....they will be at least one other Jacob in his classes at school. Are you cook with that?

All in all its your baby not ours, if you like it go with it.

* I like Jacob Alexander

Nathanial does sound feminine-ish, but as you said, it would be a middle name. I do like that name, though. Its cute. Who cares if it sounds "strong"?
