I mean it seems to me as far back as history goes there has been wars in one sort or another in the middle east (or because of it) was there time when there was peace?

My friend, as far back as history goes there have been wars in places like er...Britain and France and Europe. To single out the Middle East as a warmongering piece of Real Estate is sadly unfair.

I suggest you read the history of the Middle East. You will find (to your astonishment) that there was relatively long peaceful years during the Abbasid Empire that promoted the flowering of philosophies and sciences which contributed to the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. Bagdad and Cordoba used to be the New York and Paris of the Middle Ages before each was sacked by the Mongols and Christian Spain respectively.

Great civilisations simply do not bloom amidst long-term contention. You have nothing to lose by catching up on history to find out that conflicts do occur everywhere regardless of creed and colour. Google it man. Google it.

Has there been a 100-year period of peace in *any* area of the world?

G'day Timothy C,

Thank you for your question.

It depends what you define as the Middle East. The 19th century was pretty quiet there so it may well qualify under the Ottoman Empire.

Regards

I think 100 days would be a record.
