I started college at a 4 year university. Like a lot of people, I looked down on community colleges. I enjoyed campus life at the university. My grades started out good but quickly went down hill. I was having to take all kinds of classes that I really didn't have interest in and I didn't seem to be getting anywhere. I had no idea what I wanted to do.
I ended up going to community college, I told myself, just to take care of the basics. While looking through their course catalog, I discovered a program that actually interested me. I looked into it, and decided that this was the career for me. There is only one other school, in the state, that offers a similar program. I went through 2 years, got my Associates, and I'm working in a field that I enjoy (most of the time). The courses I took were more challenging than I expected them to be and I really learned a lot.
I've definitley changed my mind about community colleges.

No, But I am taking an EMT-B class next semester at a community college. Community colleges are extremely practical, prepare you for a job, inexpensive, and you don't have to deal with all the BS of a 4 year residential school, like drinking, roomate issues, etc. I plan to enter the paramedic program and get my associates. I was at a 4 year school but I hated it. Community schools are great. They are practical and actually get you a job unlike a 4 year school which gives you a degree in english or political science and you end up doing something you don't like. Community colleges give you a sense of direction and help you figure out what you wanna do If you don't already and are excellent to attend if you do know.

I don't go to a community college, but a lot of the people that graduated with me and went to school with me did. I don't look down on them at all. $ yoear schools are good if you know what you are going to do, but if you just know you want to go to school and you aren't sure, why not get a general education degree from a community college. I kind of wish that I had done that. By getting a general ed. degree, in Virginia, I know that a lot of schools will automatically accept you if you transfer from a Virginia community college as a Junior and there is less to worry about. You don't have to take the SATs, so if you don't take tests well, that is a plus and it gives you a little extra time to worry about applications and such. In a sense I wish I had gone to a community college just to get my basis, but I'm just as happy that I left town, so that I was able to see the rest of the world outside of my box. I think community colleges are a great way to get your feet wet, while still haveing a sense of security. It's kind of a stepping stone that you can use to get somewhere else as is any school, but if you need smaller steps, that might be the way to go. I just know a lot of people whocame to a four year college and didn't know what they wanted to do, so they wasted a lot of valuable times taking classes that they didn't need and by going to a community college, most of the classes will transfer.

I transferred from a community college to a 4 year school. For me community college was the right decision and I saved a lot of money. Don't worry about what other people say. It's more important that you finish college without running out of money.

Get somewhat of paper and write a vertical and a horizontal line thereby dividing it into 4. on the first 2 parts - record the benefits and downsides for contemporary college; do an same for homeland college. be constructive to get to the basis reason and the reason why you hate your contemporary college. ask your self if that couldn't ensue on your homeland college. Set it aside for an afternoon or 2 making constructive you upload something lacking. Then opt for. bottom-line: that is in straight forward words you who can opt for which college suits you purely top.

You would hate it a whole lot less if you are paying the bill. Two years at a c.c. and transfer to a four year school is the way to go......unless its mommy and daddy picking up the cost.
