Shampooing has nothing to do with growth of hair... as a matter of fact many doctors recommend you only shampoo a baby (with MILD shampoo) only 2-3 times per week.

The reason why is so the baby's scalp does not dry out.... it needs to have a sabaceous build up on the scalp so that his/hers head becomes used to the build up. The more you shampoo the hair, the more chance of there being alot of drying which isnt good for a baby's sensititve scalp

Our doctor told us to not shampoo the baby's hair at all for the first few weeks and only use a wash cloth and water.

I hope this helps

I have two children and two grandbabies. I never had any problems with washing their hair everyday using a baby shampoo. if you are concerned it may dry their scalp out do it every other day with the baby shampoo and on the alternating days just wipe over it with a damp cloth. and i don't think it makes any difference on it growing faster or not.

It depends on their skin actually. My daughter has horribly sensitive skin and even with the special soaps and shampoo she breaks out in horrible rashes with we use soap/shampoo too often. We've found a good balance with using soap/shampoo every other day and just doing a plain water bath on the off days. It keeps her clean but doesn't cause her to get so irritated. If your child has normal skin then I think it's fine to use the shampoo everyday. Hope you figure out what you'd like to do.

It won't do harm to shampoo everyday, but babies aren't all that dirty. Since they lose they're body heat out of they're head.. only wet the head when you need to. If you want it moisturized, use a lotion. And shampoo has nothing to do with anything that the hair will do in it's future.

Shampooing often strips the natural oils from the hair. Once a week is fine unless it gets real dirty and sticky.

Babies don't get oily hair. I only shampoo every other day because I don't want to dry their skin out.

baby shampoos are so gentle you can shampoo every day, and baby smells fresher. Has nothing to do with hair growth.

NO! Unless you want to dry out your baby's scalp! Your baby shouldn't be getting their hair dirty enough to require washing everyday or every other day!!! Talk to your pediatrician.
