Florida, at that point, will have won the toughest confrence of the 2006-7 season, don't you suppose they deserve the bid over a Big 10 and Pac 10 team. Especially since combined those confrences have 5 ranked teams (Pac 10 has 2, and Big 10 has 3 all of which are in the top 10, but have only beaten other Big 10 team other than ND) and the SEC alone has 5 (3 in the top 10 and Aub. at #11)

For the record, the questions not "Will they be..." it's should they be. I know, as all of you, that they really havent gatherd enough points to top USC because of the BSC ratings, unless UCLA pulls out a win, GO BRUINS!

I think they should be, but I am a Florida fan.
The only reason Florida sits at number 4 (not counting the game they gave away to Auburn) is their inability to put points on the board. However, they always score when necessary and they have made more crunchtime plays to pull off close wins angainst tough SEC competition than any other team in the nation.
I will add that these unranked teams that Florida has had close games with would most likely be ranked in some of the lesser conferences. It is easy for a good team to rack up losses in the SEC (look at Georgia, LSU, Auburn, and even South Carolina). Don't Forget the SEC has 3 top 10 teams.
With all that said, although I like Urban Meyer, I think he should have made a better effort to score points. The BCS is flawed, everyone knew it, and everone knew that Florida needed to put points on the board. Urban Meyer has options he didn't use enough, Deshawn Wynn for starters. An established power running game instead of trick wide reciever over plays, would have added a little stability to the Florida offense.
Also, I love Tebow, but don't rotate QB's so much. Chris Leak is too often coming back into the game on 3rd and long situations. Tebow will be a great quarterback next year and is definately a great option this year on 3rd and short, but this year should be Leak's.
My answer is yes, Florida should be there (considering they win another tough game this Saturday), but they could have done things slightly differently to ensure a better chance.

out of all the one loss or undefeated teams, floridas schedule was definitely the hardest, if USC or Michigan or Ohio was in the SEC they wouldnt be one loss teams, they wouldnt be in the top 5 in the nation. Florida obviously deserves a shot at the title, of course they wont get it, the only hope they have is that UCLA beats USC and that they beat the hell out of arkansas bad enough that they jump michigan to #2. its very doubtful that all that will happen so i do believe that they are gettin robbed. but the BCS does this to some one almost every year so its nothing new, i think they need to take the winners from the big bowl games and make them all play each other and then you will have a out right champion. thats how it should be.

relies upon on what USC does in its very last 2 video games. If USC and Arkansas both land up with one loss, of direction the pollcitizens will pick USC over Arkansas because they beat them 50-14 at Arkansas. I do have a feeling if Arkansas finishes with one loss and USC with 2 losses, that Michigan will land up #2 and play Ohio St for the BCS identify.

I feel that SEC may be the toughest conference but they only played 3 tough teams, Tenn, LSU, and Auburn and no one out of conference they played was good so how can you really tell if they are that good. They can't over look Arkansas. Ohio St beat Texas and Michigan, Michigan beat Wisconsin and ND ( Both teams lost all their games against rank teams) and USC beat Nebraska, Arkansas, and ND. Its really all just a mess and a playoff system should be tried at least one season. It would fix the mess. It may or may not find the best team winning it all but that has already happened so many times.
So should Florida be #2? Probably but who really knows. Maybe Ohio St. should not be #1.
The bowl games should be fun though.

You may have a point about the SEC being the toughest conference, but you know that if USC wins on Saturday, then Florida will be #3 at best. Only way to solve this whole problem is a playoff system!

Let's look at non-confrence opponents:
Michigan - Vanderbilt, Central Michigan, Notre Dame, Ball State
USC - Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame,
Florida - FSU, Western Carolina, UCF, Southern Miss
What does this tell us? USC played 3 strong programs for their non-confrence schedule, Michigan and Florida both scheduled patsys... USC deserves the #2 ranking from that alone. Your argument about the SEC being one of the toughest confrences is valid, but the Pac 10 isn't exactly weak and only 2 teams from the Pac 10 had losing records... the tough confrence schedule gets Flordia some respect, but not enough to put them over the top. They should have beaten Auburn if they wanted in.

To answer your question, they have a legitimate argument to be the number 2 team in the country. Will they be? Unless they crush Arkansas (I mean, like, 56-0), chances are they will still be three or four. If USC wins, they have no shot at moving up. If USC loses, the Gators might leapfrog Michigan, so long as they destroy Arkansas.

Yes. It's not gonna happen though. USC, for some dumb a** reason, sits better w/the voters. The only good thing that will come out of this years rankings is that USC will get pounded by the luckeyes and maybe then the powers that be will wake the heck up! I'm not a fan of ANY of these teams but I think no matter what, next year Florida wins it all...damnit!!! Gig 'Em!

I totally agree, but, nationally, USC gets more kudos. I am a BAMA fan and hate Florida. However, you make a very strong argument that Florida has better credentials.

You go through all that long "what if" scenario when Arkansas has a damn good chance of beating the living **** out of them. Don't worry about it until the SEC champ is crowned
