It seems that if a man who lives in a hut can do the same job, then we need to be better trained... but why should the job be exported when there is a qualified American to work it?

How might it be possible to place "tariffs" on exported jobs? Is it possible to tax outsourcing?

Americans should be ashamed at some of the things we complain about. If people living in third world countries with no job skills, education, or electricity have the ability to sew stitches in underwear, then why are Americans upset that we can not have that job. Is that how low we Americans are now setting our standards?
There are booming job markets in health care, accounting, auto technician, for example. Those jobs pay more. Somehow as those positions continue to go unfilled, we complain about the low paying, low skilled jobs that some dirt poor guy in China or India is doing.
We simply had it too good, for too long, and now take it for granted. We should not simply train better, we should stop whining and adjust to the world economy or we will get left behind eventually.
It makes no sense for a $50,000 nursing job to go unfilled and yet complain about a $10/hr job at the underwear factory.

The last thing you want to do is start putting tariffs on anything. That will lead to "retaliation" tariffs and trade wars are not good. And instead jobs going overseas, the company headquarters will relocate, and then we will really have something to complain about.

Well, if you think about it, the USA was founded by immigrants, people who chose to leave (primarily) the UK and settle in the colonies. Those who emigrated were unable to find jobs, land, religious tolerance, etc. so they set their eyes on foreign lands. I have never been upset by immigrant workers in the US because my family moved from Ireland during the famine and found food and success in America. One of the best things about our economy is that no matter how bad it gets there will ALWAY be some job to do. I do, however, get angry at the red-neck imperialists who want to keep the Mexican's and Central American's out of our country. (When most American's here "Immigrant Worker" they automatically think "Mexican".) It is very hard for a person to get a work visa and involves several years of preparation for some. The US government needs to make it simpler to get a visa and give amnesty to those who are here already. Having a visa will ensure that these people are treated fairly by employers and are not paid below minimum wage. I am not angry when they take jobs in America because 1. That is what the USA is all about, the land of opportunity (If an American os angry that a Mexican took his job he should find a better, cheaper way to do that job and then we will take it back... that's called capitalism.) and 2. MOST Mexicans do not want to live here forever. In fact, many come to the states to make money so they can go back home and live off what they made along with their families. However, many are afraid that if they go home they will never be able to come back, so they stay. It is a never ending cycle of illegality that needs to end on the US Government's end.

the man in the hut gets the job because he will do the job for a few dollars a day. Not because he is better trained. This saves the company millions of dollars and takes away jobs from Americans.

Neither, people should stop complaining and start doing, in order to change things.
By getting a higher education and learning other languages, as well as becoming business owners and becoming world travelers, by working on exporting to many countries, show China they aren't the only ones who will take over the commercial industry.

Yes, jobs are being taken to foreign contries, because those workers will work for much less than the equivalent of the US minimum wage. I would have to become illegal for US corporations to export jobs outside the US, before we could see any increase in US jobs.

This has nothing to do with training and everything to do with economics. Companies "out-source" their labor because they don't have to pay as much or provide health benefits. And as for foreigners coming here and taking jobs....most of those jobs are hard labor or other low-wage, low-prestige positions that many Americans don't want to do.

Welcome to globalization. As for immigrants they're doing the jobs a lot of Americans aren't willing to do, as for the outsourcing, you're right, there are many qualified Americans, but in the name of profit for the shareholders, they are outsourcing many jobs Americans are willing to do. Therefore globalization = maximum profitization.

Foreigners are taking Jobs from us. Not in the USA but all over the world. Example computer programmers in Russia. We dont have a choice we have to get more education or face extinction.
