I'm 28 as well and occasionally have this happen. I'm not sure why my periods seem to stop abruptly sometimes, but end with this kind of lingering discharge other times, but I have no infections that I know of and am healthy otherwise. I'm no nurse but it might help to know you're not the only one having this problem. I think a vaginal infection would give you symptoms at other times besides around your period, too.

It is probably blood (as in spotting) from your period. The reason it is brown is because it is several days after your period has ended, so the blood from the lining of your uterus has turned brown (like a scab) as the blood cells dye and the iron oxidizes. Unless you develop a foul odor associated with it or any greenish discharge, abdominal pain, or fever, you probably have nothing to worry about. Go see a doctor if it continues much longer after your period or any other symptoms start to accompany it.

It's normal. While you're having your period, you're just shedding that inner lining of the uterus so it's easy to imagine that it didn't all come out at once. The brown color is because that blood is a few days old. It's totally normal though so learn to expect it.
