Got a room (14 foot by 10 foot) to rent. I would charge £60 a week and that includes all bills plus internet connection (computer not supplied). It is in a quiet area in Lancashire, and I am a quiet person so I don't want any strange people, or party animals.
When I advertise, what would be the best way to interview the prospective tenants?

Working tenants only, references required, one months deposit, decide if the rent is average market rate or below, ask what they do for a living, what are their hours of work, how long they've been in the area, if their answers are lucid you can ask a bit more, after all it is your home!

If you advertise it you are the only one who chooses in the first place.I used to rent a room in Crawley and stayed 18 months so know that you can find good people to rent to,i had one in the next room to me he used to take my bread and milk plus the land Lady used to complain he took many things of hers as well.

Advertise on craigslist. It's free. Put what you put here in that ad. Say you "want a quiet person, no druggies or wierdos" Describe yourself a bit (not too much - not details such as where you work, or your exact address). Have them email you (through craigslist - it's annonymous) and describe themselves and why they think they would be a good roomy match for you.

60 bucks a week for a room that size? Someone would have to be a weirdo to rent it from you.

Say they have to be going to school full time or have a full time job and preferably a non smoker and has to be absolutely very clean&tidy
That should limit the wackos

um Im not sure what you mean. You need to immigrate to England first before you rent a room.

You could ask them to provide character references
