i own a repair shop, and you need a new sending unit in the tank for it,,this is what makes the needle move on it,and it has gone bad on you ,there kind of hard to put in considering you have to drop the tank off to do it,so you might want to have it done by a shop,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Well I can tell you it could either be the sending unit in the tank, the gauge itself, or in a rare case the wiring in between. On my car, I was told by my mechanic that it was the gauge but oddly enough it "fixed" itself. I don't know how or why but I'm not going to complain. I do however reset my "trip" odometer every time i get fuel.

Yes. But the cost would be more than a 1999 Taurus is worth! Either set the trip odometer each time you get gas or just go out and buy another car!

sometimes that's barely a blown fuse or a loose floor twine on or close to the tank. do exactly no longer jack the vehicle up and then circulate slowly below it. no longer risk-free! detect a small dip/melancholy and park over that, then circulate slowly below it. A jacked up vehicle could shift and fall... pinning you below it.
