My daughter came on her due date which was exactly 40 weeks. Technically most women are actually pregnant 10 months.

its actually 10mos. so if u have went through a whole month then u are considered a month not as ur in it. example when u were 3 weeks... u wernt considered a month yet. when u hit 4 weeks u were. so at 31 weeks u are now 7mos and 3 weeks. 33 weeks u will be 8 mos. so u should have the baby when u are 9 mos. it will only be 10 mos if u go over 40 weeks. it is safe to have the baby 2 weeks befor 40 weeks or 2 weeks after. if u go over 40 then the baby is well done and ready fo sur. Good luck and God Bless

The average length of human pregnancy is 40 weeks from the first day of your last menstrual period. If you are 31 weeks now you still have 9 weeks to go.
That was the short answer.
The longer answer:
"Full term" is considered to be anywhere from 37 weeks to 42 weeks. If you go into labor prior to 37 weeks that is "preterm" labor. After 42 weeks - "post-term".
If you want to get more accurate keep in mind that the average of 40 weeks is based on women who have a 28 day menstrual cycle. If you cycle is longer your due date is a bit later. (If you have a 31 day cycle then your est. due date would be 40 weeks + 3 days. If your cycle is 26 days, your est. due date would be 40 weeks - 2 days.) Also, first time mothers usually carry their babies a few days longer than in subsequent pregnancies.
Of course, the new "average" length of gestation in the United States is 39 weeks, but it isn't because babies are taking less time to grow, it is because doctors are inducing labor way, way too often, and we are now ending up with an epidemic of premature and low birth weight babies.

Full term is 40 weeks, your nearly there. If you talking in months, you are due in the ninth month. But sometimes the babies may come earlier or a week later from your due date. If your overdue 2 weeks past your due date then you might need to get induced. It is very important to see your doctor regularly. You should be seeing them at more frequency now since you are so close to your due date. Congratulations and Good Luck.

It happens at the end of 9 months or 40 weeks. Many first babies do come a bit early - but you've got about at least 1 month and a half to go I'd say.

Pregnancies are counted in lunar months, 4 week cycles. Full term is 38-42 weeks. You should have been given a due date. I find that most first time mothers can go up to two weeks beyond that date without any complications.

Well even though you are considered full term at 40 weeks (9 months) a baby actually can come 2 weeks before or after 40 weeks/the due date. Very few women have their baby on or a few days within the due date (it can happen though).
With my 1st son I went 2 weeks over and on the day I was suppose to be induced I went into labor. With my second I was one of the few who was within few days of my due date and had him and I am now due to have my third and I am due on Dec 12th so we will see what happens.

Get you bag ready. You're at the door, just waiting on the baby to knock. It'll be between now and 5 more weeks.
