Both ankle & knee are joints or in other words levers. when any of these levers are not working properly the movement of the connecting bone changes its angle thereby putting pressure on the other lever in our case the knee joint . So this cross movement of the bone near the knee joint cause the knee muscles stretch to accomodate the movement and also the knee joint will be facing ruptures due to the scraping action on it.
