You talk to someone online or in a casual conversation, then the next day you realize what you said, think "oh my god they're going to rip me a new one!" but when you talk to them they're not even phased by it? But, but- you were expecting them to be wholeheartedly pissed off at you? (not over anything reallly hurtful just some really dumb conversation you have, or awkward convo)

Or, maybe they kind of knew that you didn't really mean things in a bad way, or the way it sounded. I have had conversations with people like what you describe (me, being the one who you think should be pissed off), and I just considered it something that they didn't mean, or not how it sounded. If, later on, it really was meant in the bad way, I would find out about in some way or another.

They must have got what you said. Perhaps in the context what you said was perfectly normal, but once you were out of it, it seemed awful. Or even say "wow after I thought about how I said that, I thought you were going to rip me a new one. I guess you understood what I was saying though...phew!" then you can gauge their reaction better or if they are mad they can talk about it.
