Most probably.

The desire to feel important is one of the human needs identified by MASLOW. It is something that most of us have, and DEFINITELY something that drives all TOP performers.

So, are you implying it is wrong to feel important?

People come here not only because they want to feel important but also because they want to give importance to others. The world is so vast that one can never embrace in their entire life. Going to different places is so damn expensive and only the chosen few can afford to do it. Everyone of us has a bit of a good Samaritan spirit within us...but not everybody has the chance to show it. We always hope and pray for peace and unity among mankind but never do anything to achieve it. We are all busy in our own little world but...through Yahoo Answers...we are given the opportunity to prove our own worth...of reacting...interacting... ...giving...receiving and sharing our ideas not only to one but towards many people of different races out there. Here we achieve being unified not physically but in mind and spirit. Here we are given a chance to be a sister. a brother, a mother, a father , a friend...to live and help within a big family of the human race. Isn't it amazing what Yahoo Answers can do to serve mankind?

In the future, brainwaves will replace keyboards as means of input, implants will replace the monitor as means of reception. Men will become fused with machines, and through machines, all men will fuse into an holistic community, where thoughts are shared, opinions are polled, and individuality become mere moot abstractions. Importance will lose its meaning, except in the collective whole, and we will soon whiz through space in vast cubes conquering and assimilating other life. The reason why some take time to come to Yahoo Answers are only anxious to hasten this day, not because of any hope of self-importance.

I'm sure that some people's motives for coming to Yahoo Answers is less than genuine. I come to Yahoo Answers to share some of my knowledge with others and to learn from others as well.

Some people come to Yahoo Answers to moan about how bad their life is ("is my butt too big?", "why do women hate single men?" etc etc), so obviously they are not trying to create a favorable opinion about themselves on the Internet.

If somebody however wants to demonstrate their great knowledge of, say, butterflies, and shares that knowledge with those who are interested, then good for them

I answer questions for the following reasons:
1) it helps keep me entertained when I'm bored
2) I like to think that there have been times when I have helped someone (which makes me feel good)
and while I havent asked a question, I suspect you hit the nail on the head

I don't know about "feeling important" but I come here to share my views with others and get their views. It's sort of like sitting around a campfire and discussing current events. I don't use it for an ego-trip, I use if for inter-personal communication. (OK, it's anonymous but it's still live communication)

Good question. I mean, I don't really think everyone here are out for real advise. I have to admit myself that I sometimes come here just to fill up some time.

I do it because I'm bored. I think it's hard to feel important when no one knows your true identity. I just like being able to ask serious questions to a multitude of people and learning what people really think, and being able to remain anonymous.
