Yes. There are plenty of books in your local library and at book stores that explain computers in an easier-to-understand manner. Look into those. Also there are local computer users groups (possibly in your area) that you can look into. Many of these organizations are a good place to find people that can explain things to you.

You can try brushing up on computer lingo but I'm sure you will find that, in the long run, these people are actually boring computer geeks and you would do much better to find people who are more into your own interests.
