It is normal to talk to oneself, except when some psychological pathology has not been excluded. On several fronts, we interact with ourselves either aloud or otherwise in order to come to a conclusion about something.
It is cumbersome to talk out aloud especially in public, but it is not uncommon. Maybe you have responded to a friend who said something only to have them them tell you, "... oh, I was just talking to myself." Maybe you have sat in a bus next to a person singing a song or whistling a tune.
Now, having said that, there are exceptions. Some people might suffer from a mental illness that makes them have auditory or visual hallucinations, thus, leading them to converse with themselves.
Hope that helps.

Sure I do. I have a form of what is called DID (dissociative disorder). I have split myself into several personalities that all chat away in my mind. Often one personality will talk out loud while the others talk in my head. I guess in comparison to most other people I am a nut but I'd rather be me. I'm never alone, always have someone to back me up and a fresh point of view when looking at problems is a great help.
Note* DID is not multiple personality disorder. I know my alternate voices are just different versions of me, not other people living in my body.

previously answering this question I informed myself that i do not do this. I lied to myself. the established circumstances? each and every from time to time I actually have a secret that i'm no longer allowed to share with each person, so i will share it with myself. different circumstances I actually have disagreements with myself. you comprehend the way each and every from time to time you get conflicted on what to do? even as that occurs, I communicate it out between myself and that i. Or each and every time i'm worried about assembly with someone, i will practice out loud what i will say, even as also responding in the different human being's voice. there is also the occasional communicate with issues that won't be able to communicate decrease back. My canines, the television, my Beatles poster, and so on. Do human beings note? i did not imagine so till those days. curiously, even as i bypass to the health midsection and use between the machines, my lips bypass like i'm speaking. Which i'm. To myself. i became somewhat embarrassed. Now i attempt to cover my conversations extra useful. How commonly? Eh. relies upon on how i'm feeling. If i'm truly chuffed or truly offended, I communicate nonstop. otherwise, it purely occurs in certain circumstances. i'm no longer that insane. Do I comprehend that's happening? some 5 minutes into the communicate, i will provide up and beauty what i'm doing. previously that, although, i do not even note. Edit: something purely got here about which I although i'd upload to this. i became on the health midsection, doing a cardio artwork out to really upbeat music. My excuse is that i became ridiculously drained. even as i began my quiet down, I felt that i could not manage the quick music. determined for something slower, I suggested quietly to myself, yet with large emphasis, "Get me Billy Joel!" everyone purely appeared at me... Awkward.

Everyone talks to themselves - some more often than others, but it is normal. I do it all the time, because I often find it helps work out problems in my life, or just to hear myself aloud. You are not stupid, and no disrespect to your mother, but she could not be more wrong!

Sure! I talk to myself all the time. In particular, when I'm driving. It's not like a conversation though, with questions and answers ... it's more just voicing my thoughts out loud.
I generally don't do it in front of other people though :-)

Sometimes. But I don't really consider it talking to myself, rather I'm "thinking out loud," usually when working on something. If you're walking down a street talking to an invisible friend, you might want to be concerned.

Yeah.
Nothing wrong with talking to yourself. Some people may just be lonely and just want to hear a human voice-even if it's their own. They want some kind of company, but maybe they don't know it?
I dunno,it's become a habit for me.

It is not normal but it is normal. What I mean is it is viewed as crazy when you do it around others but most people actually does it. And I actually learned that in a psychology course-that was going to be my minor once upon a time.

It is normal to do this, and even to answer yourself occasionally. Children do it as they are trying to learn a task, and we do this when there is no one else around to talk to about stuff.
By talking to ourselves, we reinforce beliefs about ourselves. Thus if your self-talk is negative, then your beliefs are going to be negative. This is why we need to make sure our self talk is positive.
