I was a California teen in the 1960's and have seen the evolvement of society. Why, with so much overall awareness and insight do people still focus on skin color? I would think a person's personal preference might be valid only to the point if one is attracted to long vs short hair, strong features vs softer features, guy / girl next type look vs exotic look, plump vs thinner, darker vs lighter skin, status, humor, quiet vs more assertive etc. etc. etc. When a person is seen within we all have the same body organs, blood, bones etc. It's the temperment, heart, soul, humor, mind etc. that's of interest to someone that is in the visual that appeals to them. I wish people would stop with the white verses other color race already. Color is variety...it's the personalty and heart that's of truth. We are not he minds of the ignorance of generations past. Sincerely . . . enlighten me . . . why does society still focus on the color a persons skin so much?

Because 99% of the world's population does not think for itself. It's too much hard work I guess. All over the world fair skin is preferred ? Why ? There must be some historical reason which is totally inapplicable now.

No way! turning out to be up interior the middle East (challenge field), i'm able to become attentive to with marsel_duchamp's & Brownring's solutions. i'm at a loss for what answerers meant with the aid of colour of blood mattering?? additionally, Kare bear, in basic terms God can see the guts, yet i think of i understand what ya propose. In my tiny Reformed Baptist church interior the middle of Mennonite PA, we've a mix of Korean-American, chinese language-American (the two married to Caucasians), Filippina, an Armenian (*not* Arminian) relatives, an African-American relatives, & an African-American youthful guy. those human beings (& something human beings undeniable previous Caucasians) have chosen to be a area of our church 1st & maximum perfect because of the coaching we get carry of, because of the truths we carry in user-friendly, so i assume this could be a cultural difference greater suitable than racial differences. I would desire to snort because of the fact this communicate has in basic terms made me record those of particularly some racial backgrounds, even nonetheless i could particularly not "see" those racial variations. I understand that racism does nonetheless exhist, particularly in wallet of the South, yet between Reformed Baptist church homes, there is little/no thought-approximately this. as a substitute, the mark of each attender is consienscous, severe-minded reading of the word & worshipping mutually as an expression of gratitude for what the Lord has finished for us ALL. "there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor unfastened, there is neither male nor woman: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."

I like your question! *smile*
okay I am 22 white woman my soon to be husband is 23 and black, I live in the south,we have seen some other interacially couples here, but not many. This is the first black man I have ever been with, we have been together for 2 yrs., My entire family has always taught me that the race of a person does not matter it's who they are inside. that changed a little bit once they realized that our relationship started going farther than they exspected it to. we have dealt with some things with society, for example, a job i'm not conseated by any means please don't think that but I drive trucks for a living and when I went to this company to apply for a job they all were like yes we are hiring what man does'nt want a short little petite girl working with them, anytime a man sees a woman doing that type of work will try to be all over them NO MATTER WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE,as it is anyway! i know from exsperience. but they gave me an application told me they were needing a driver bad but when the boss realized i had a black man sitting in the car everything changed and i did'nt understand at first but I thought about it later nedless to say they never did contact me back. We have traveled to many states( arkansas, mississippi, missiouri, oklahoma, tennisee and more) and we get the most looks in ms. and ar. but we have got used to it, it does'nt bother us we make jokes like they must think we are 2 good looking people *smile*(ha ha). I think it has to do with the way people are raised, they are not used to it, so therefore its very different to them, but they need to know that people are people no matter what colour you are they have the same everything that a white person has, and if you want to get down to it black people are more stylish, got nicer butts and can dance to anything and look good at it.
You know it was different not in a bad way but when i first met my fiance things were new to me i have learned alot and so has he about our different races. you know I know he is black but I really don't even see the colour anymore you might think i'm crazy but i'm serious! and neither does he, just the other day we were on the phone and I said something and he said i almost forgot you were white. People are just stupid and only think of their self, i have had many people say to me "oh so you only date black guys?" and that really aggravates me, I say no it don't matter what race they are if i like them i just like them who cares what race they are. I love my baby he is one of the best things in my life, I love him the same as I would if he were white. peopl don't have respect for other people now days they are just rediculios with theirselves. races mix everyday they need to get used to it and the more years that go on the more they will keep doing it. it's the way people are raised! thats my answer to you sorry i drug this out so long it just irritates me. good luck on people changing!

You are correct about 1 point, color is variety. What would this world look like if everyone was mixed? All brown, no variety. That is 1 reason color is important.

it's always gonna be the same. now if we all the same race then it'll be different.but like they say there is good and bad in every race. i think people who have had bad expierence with other races would carry it with them and on to their kids so it's always gonna be the same.

Because people are stupid when it comes to their prejudices. They divide the world into "us" and "them" and skin color is an easy way to tell the difference.
