At its height, the Hittite empire encompassed central Anatolia, north-western Syria as far as Ugarit, and upper Mesopotamia and existed from about the 18th century BCE until roughly the 8th century BCE.

It existed in what we know today as Turkey. There's a great site if you put Hittite Nation in your search engine -- several sites, as a matter of fact, with tons of information about that pre-biblical empire
