How many people actually listen to death/black metal?

....and if you do could you give me some good ideas on who to listen to?

My brother is OBSESSED with death metal and black metal. I don't like any of it, but I know a lot of the bands he likes, because he's always trying to show me their music. Here is a good list of some bands to check out.

Death metal:

Cryptopsy
Kataklysm
Skinless
Severe Torture
Death
Psycroptic
Cephalic Carnage

Black metal:

Dimmu Borgir
Dark Funeral
Arsis
The Legion
Thy Primordial

And ignore people who tell you that Cradle of Filth is death metal, because they aren't. Heh.

Black metal is one of my favorite metal subgenres. I like death too, but not as much as black.

Death Metal:
Death, Vader, Necrophagist, Obituary, Cryptopsy, Nile, Behemoth, The Chasm, Vital Remains

Black Metal:
Immortal, Emperor, 1349, Drudkh, Kampfar, Windir, Bathory, Enslaved, Judas Iscariot, Mayhem, Melechesh, Taake

Try to check out each band individually because there's a lot of diversity within those lists. For example, Vader is thrashier than most death bands while Necrophagist is more technical.

I had an itch for "death" metal like last year but I was never really able to find what I was looking for. What I did find was that I only liked a couple of songs by each band I had listened to. I liked a few by Crematory. "Nymphetamine" and "Hallowed by the Name" by Cradle of Filth. I liked a couple from Acid Bath, but mainly fell in love with only 3, "Graveflwer", Bleed me an Ocean", and Scream of the Butterfly" but I am sure there would be more if I had listened to more of them. I like a couple from Nothingface, like "Pacifier", and "For all the Sin". There is a band called He is Legend that I a liked a couple songs from. But, i'll just stick to my normal NIN, Flaw, TOOL, and Chevelle, etc. Hope you find what you are searching for! :)

I use it at deafening levels to annoy the living crap out of my obnoxious neighbor who insists on letting his dog bark all day and night.

I actually own an album by the Eagles Of Death Metal, but I doubt it's the style of music you seek.

I don't really listen them but my brother does.....Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Job for a Cowboy, and Gore Rotted. These are the only ones I can think of right now but there are a hell of a lot more

I do. And to start off, listen to Job For A Cowboy. They are kick ash.

The cool kids listen to Sabbath, Priest and Maiden because we can use one word from their band name as oppossed to two.
