cumbersome--pretentious and drawnout for too many pages--however that said he is one of my fave authors and I could not put these books down for one moment until I was done--its a great epic if you have got some time to spare--its scattered with references to arthurian legend and I believe T.S. Eliot or was that his other book, anyway have a great journey along the way its well worth the ride..

Spoiler!!
I adored the first four. The 5th was pretty good. After that, I am still pretty conflicted as to whether or not I liked them. I really liked the way that Stephen King wrote himself into the book. I really didn't like the whole bit about Susannah giving birth to this demon half spider thing that was supposed to be Roland's son. That was pretty hokey. It would have been a lot better, though, if King had explored the conflicting emotions inside of Mordred a bit more and maybe gave Roland some conflicting emotions about whether or not he should kill his own son, demon or not. If Mordred had had a charming side, a caring side and perhaps pursued a relationship with his father, it would have made things very interesting not just plot-wise, but thematically as well.
The final conflict with the Crimson King was just pathetic. It was like Stephen King was just getting impatient and wanted to hurry up and finish it already.
What I'm really not sure about is the ending. Can't decide if I like it or not. seems like there were so many good seeds sewn early in the book that never sprouted.

It has been many years since I read the Dark Tower series and I think I got to book 4. From what I remember they were very good. Typical Steven Kings writing before the accident. (His writing style changed) It is not the typical horror story like The Stand or Thinner. But still very interesting read.

One of the best series ever. Recently completed the whole series and i want to start reading them again. It is good if you have read other king books before because he has a lot of recurring characters/plots. The interrelatedness of all his books makes it great.

I read the first books and then waited, like everyone else, for the rest. I loved the series. Devoured each one as they came out. Loved it until the very end where Roland ends up right back where he started. I was totally disappointed. Hated the end. I felt cheated.

I read the whole series, truly some of his best work, I love how they are also connected to some of his other books (The Stand, Hearts in Atlantis, The Talisman... etc.)

hi Pagan. (Love your call, btw). I, too, substitute right into somewhat frightened approximately examining this sequence because of the fact it substitute into pronounced to be so diverse from his different works besides because it being a style of western. this is not somewhat a western as I envisage them. in basic terms besides, as I hate westerns. Like maximum of his different memories, it somewhat is rather ingenious, has believble characters, and you ask your self now and returned how he manages to think of up a number of those techniques! Very smart guy, particularly smart sequence. provide them a try. I enjoyed the 2d e book interior the sequence, i.e. "The Drawing of the three" the final.
