Bush is unpopular, and deservedly so. But Dems don't want to impeach Bush because it will hurt their presidential chances in '08. If history is any indication, the public doesn't want their leadership wasting time on this kind of stuff.
To those below saying he hasn't committed any impeachable offenses, here's what he could be accused of. (I'm not saying he's guilty, I'm just saying these are accusations that could be made).
*invading another country on false pretenses
*illegal wiretapping / unauthorized domestic spying
*illegal detainment of so-called "enemy combatants"
*authorizing torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners
*misappropriating hundreds of millions of dollars from Afghan war to Iraq war, without Congressional approval
If lying about a bj is an impeachable act, surely these are, too.

George Bush is the "teflon President". No matter what he does, nothing seems to stick. The majority of the people do not approve of the job he has done. There is plenty evidence to suggest that impeachment procedures are warranted. Yet I doubt they will be. Politics in this country has become more important than doing what is right. The Democrats are more worried about winning the election in '08 than they are concerned about doing the right thing. The Republicans are in too much denial too admit that Bush should be impeached. After all, they voted for him twice. How stupid would they look if they voted to proceed with an impeachment. This country deserves better than it is getting.

If we want something done, we must write our congress men and women, and insist on investigations. Petitions must be collected and presented to the sitting congress. Write your petition, start knocking on doors, or do it online. I'll sign it. The current congress, may choose to ignore the petition. However, in January, 2007, the 110th Congress will take office present your petition to them for a better chance of success.
The holdup is Bush and his cronies are still running things till January. They aren't going to do a thorough investigation of themselves. Honestly, if you were forced to do an investigation of your own ethics, business practices, legal dealings and obligations, you really cannot tell me you wouldn't attempt to change those findings to favor yourself.
Besides, if you do present your petition to congress right now, if any of the Bush regime gets a hold of that document, they would likely use the Homeland Security Act, or parts of the Patriot Act to sidestep the Constitution, and consider you an enemy to get rid of you and/or the petition you present.
Timing is everything! Start getting those signatures now, but wait to present them to congress after the Dems take control in January.
Added later.
This may be one of the reasons to keep the war going in Iraq. Some seem to think this is not possible during time of war. That is simply not true. One of the impeachable crimes committed is war crimes. If thoroughly investigated, most of Bush's top buds, including Cheney, would be removed. Hitler was removed as WW11 raged on. But you don't need to look backward any further than the 1970's. Vietnam, Watergate, Nixon, and most of his top guys were removed. Nixon resigned before being indicted for the Watergate scandal.
I really believe that the Bush administration is up to something no good. They have been having private and public talks with Henry Kissinger (Nixon-Watergate era).

Because no one wants to drag the country thru an impeachment that, if successful, would see Bush leaving a year early, if even that much.
IN addition, the votes are not there in either the House or the Senate, and the Dems know that.
Therefore, they'd be doing an unpopular thing that is doomed to failure, and at some level, they know that.

The media likes to portray that the whole country disapproves of President Bush. This of course isn't true. I support President Bush along with the majority of Americans that voted for him two years ago. You don't impeach someone just because you don't like their policies. According to the Constitution, (Article II section 4) The President "shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." Don't forget that impeaching a President doesn't remove him from office. He still has to be convicted. President Clinton was impeached but he wasn't convicted.

I agree with you if you do the DRAFT of the President's impeachment. But if the document not from your own mind then I prefer Bush to stay.

The Constitution says that impeachment is an option for high crimes or misdemeanors. Bush has not committed any impeachable offenses. Or do you not really care what the Constitution says?

What is it with you kids?! You don't want to empeach him for several reasons! It would wipe out any chance for the demo's in 2008, it's war time you never do it during war time, and you have to find something he's done in order to be impeached!!!!

only the Yahoo boards boo Bush while the rest of the Nation like him. When he was up for re-election the yahoo boards bashed Bush creamy than whipped potatoes
however he won the vote: Why???
Well he won because there is life outside yahoo and you can't always believe what you read.
I for one like Bush
and I can't wait till GUILIANI gets in 08'
On a last note: I like Bush and I highly respect the man. I don't think many Presidents had to deal with so many world issues at once incldung a lowlife Cindy Sheehan. So I give the man credit and I pray that G-d strengthens him fully. My brother served in the Marines in Iraq, when he came back from Iraq the first thing he told me was the war was justified. The Marines made a huge difference in Iraq and established some sense of a future outside Saddam's evil reign. Ask any Marine or service man/woman and they will tell you the war was needed. We only see the war behind the eyes of CNN and MSNBC but we don't see the war behind a deprived Iraqi child who deserves freedom and a life just as much as you enjoy yours. Or an Iraqi woman who deserves to have an education and a future outside head gear worn over her face with only a net to breath through. So you can sit in your nice cozy American life and judge Bush and the War, but you should put down your IPOD and instead of Judging our President and his every move you should walk a few steps in these deprived countries and your only hope in a country that will intervene for your freedom!
GO BUSH- GODSPEED TO YOU
