Dude, seriously, half of us don't even know the difference between Iowa and Idaho. Our own states!

From what I understand it, those high arctic islands are not considered Canadian territory by America because if they are not Canadian territory, that means that it is international waters, and anyone who chooses to send a ship through the arctic ocean from the pacific to the Atlantic may do so without tariffs or taxes. If it is owned by Canada however, USA and other governments would be required to pay Canada money for transportation through that pass. Furthermore, Canada does not have a permanent army force there, so does not have much say in the matter.

Because they are not canadian territory, the have been claimed by the US. Be happy the US hasn't annexed the whole country. and ps Get a wate water treatment facility in victoria instead of dumping it into the ocean

I'm not sure why I think that. I can go next door and ask Julio, or you could ask the US Dept of State why every last one of us believes that.
