Absoutley. The world is different depending on who looks at it, what circumstances they are experiencing, and the time the see it. No one person can say the world is a certain way, and everyone agrees with it. We each function out of our own perception, making the world unique depending on personal preference. Also, the world is an illusion because it is not what it seems. The ideas we believe are not real because they can are often are disproved. There is not set world or perfection, correctness, or right way. You are a good thinker. Keep thinking like this. Also in religion (the eastern one) they call this "Maya". Hindus and Buddhist believe the world is an illusion because things ALWAYS change. How can the world be set if we are constantly growing, evolving, and expressing different moods? There is no such thing as objectives. Is is pious of something (Rand) to believe that it is simply an illusion of a philosophical belief and nothing more. At the same time, thought, like the other girl said, when you hurt you feel pain, which is real. Or is it? We cannot deny that when we are hurting it is real, but what makes this an illusion is that we feed into the ain, making it more than pain, and other things like sufferinf, and at this point cultivate other emotions at the same time. If er realize that physical pain is just pain, and nothing more, we understand the illusion of pain better. But then again, many people are not able to do this, and consider this a rather mad idea.

It all comes down to your belief system, because there is no concrete way that you could justify either answer for the question.
For example, to have proof that the world was an illusion you would need proof that there was something else out there. To prove that you would need to be able to observe it. To observe it you would need to rely on your senses and the input they gather from the world around you.
This makes the argument circular and circumstantial, because there is no way that any input that you take in could possibly allude to the world being an illusion. If it is an illusion, then anything you observe will be part of that illusion and will therefore indicate that it is, in fact, reality. And if is not an illusion then there is simply no proof out there to find.
However, personally, I do not believe that the world is an illusion. I believe that my life has meaning, that I'm not simply wandering around in some kind of test, and I live my life in such a way that I find meaningful.

I believe that the world is what you make it so yes it is an illusion but feelings are real like pain and love so take your own perspective and decide if you want the world to be an illusion then make it one.

that is an "idealist" school of thought... i really dont think thats the case.. im more of a materialist, like most of the scientists today.
you could say it is an illusion in that you percive barely any of it... only a tiny fraction of your senses are actually percieved consciously..
but if it were an illusion all in my head, then you would be an illusion and not real... and for some reason im willing to bet your real.. that last sentence was not sarcastic.
my mind is my brain... my "self" is a quality of the matter in my head... "i" depend on matter to exist.. because i am only matter.. so even within myself.. even the existence of this mind thats supposedly doing the illusion needs to be made of real concrete matter to exist... and you may say this may also be part of "the big illusion".. but if you have ever altered your brain chemistry and therefore changed your "self" ... you would see that mind is brain and therefore matter cannot simply be an illusion of the mind..

Yes, you live under the illusion that you are safe by having laws on paper. You live under the illusion that it will never happen to you just everyone else. Under the illusion your parents are perfect, your marriage will last forever, your kids will be happy. You live under the illusion that you will never die, so waste your life, Then you do die & the illusion ends.

This is a question deserving much DEEP thought. I have researched it, debated it and thought long and deeply about it. I still believe in God, and I don't think accepting the world as illusion negates God.
For some real, deep thought on this subject. Rent the DVD for "WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW?". Watch it a couple of times to make certain you understand the theories presented. Then do your own research to confirm or refute.

If all that is the case is the world,
and the world is an illusion...
then there must be some extra-wordly semantics to justify that claim.
But there isn't.
So no.
It's still possible we're globally deceived.
But that doesn't mean the 'world' is a fake-- just the one we perceive.

it's an illusion to deeper things with deepeer meaning to our purpose and our presence. But it's not in itself an illusion at all. Thats y when u hurt u hurt, when u cut urself u hurt, and when u get sick, u feel it.... The world we live in is real--dont fool urself, but there's an even greater reality than this, and thats the spiritual realm--the very things we cannot see with our naked eyes. And thats what makes it so dangerous for us ppl---bcuz most of us dnt blieve it bcuz we cant see it. But by the time we face that reality, with no ability to escape it, by comin bck into this reality, it'll b too late. So it's gud to recognize it , acknowledge that truth and doing sumthn about it. as in givin ur life to the one to whom all these realities belong. If u have anymore questions, u can email me an dill respond.

It is as an illusion as much as the body is given to death.... As the body is made for the world, the world is made for the monumental aspect of the universe.......
When this all passes, it can be ascertained..... that it was something that used to be......
