post office, public hospital, public transportation, public school, fire station
These institutions do not have to do much with socialism itself, but I guess this was your question.

I am not sure you can call the Post Office socialism as it is government owned & tax subsidized.
Most consider Social Security to be socialism. Even when it was first devolped it was set on socialist values. People pay in & everyone gets benefits. No one makes a profit off of it as money is invested for later use.
Public owned airports are a great example of socialism at work.
Many countries have public investors that start airports & the airport continues to pay for itself with no direct profit to individuals. The benfit being the increase in business to area.
I have assumed from your answer you mean the economic socialism not the goverment socialism, as they are totally different. Good luck!

There are no good examples of socialism, as it only exists as an economic theory!

Switzerland currently has the only real socialist structure. They are the only country with what is called a Direct Democracy... of which, many say is really socialism.
Their structure literally allows any person whom can acquire enough votes to be able to put something on a ballot then it is voted for by ALL the people.

Welfare, anything that says it is the Governments job to take care of the people. The contrary thought is that it is the Governments job to provide the people with the opportunity to take care of themselves.

A grocery store...think of the store itself as its own "owner of means of production"..Think of the customers as the "community", and everything used in the store as "capital goods": for example, cash registers....theyre used for both the comsumer (customer) and producer's (store's) benefit.

only place socialism truly exists is in the writings of Karl Marx and possibly, Lenin.
France comes close, but, they tax the hell out of their citizens.
