well maybe not too natural, but since I don't use poisons anywhere around the house, I use hairspray on ants. After the rains are pretty much over, around the outside of the house and any hill that I come across I sprinkle in a solid line (or circle 'round the ant hill) of Diatomaseous Earth. It's a gritty powder, it is not an instant death for insects rather when they walk thru it it sticks to their hard shells, gradually "sanding" away their outer shell leaving them to dry out. So this only works on insects with an exoskeleton, that hard shell., ants beetles roaches etc. I don't recall this product at our Walmart (which is a small store) so maybe at a bigger one or any nursery. I have also used mineral oil on their way in the house in the winter. They wont cross into the oil as they get trapped. They won't eat mineral oil as they will eat vegetable oil. Mineral is just about everywhere.

The best answer to this question is to make a mix of 50% borax (you find this in the soap section - remember 20 mule team borax?) and 50% powdered sugar. Mix this up thoroughly! Then either place in small soda lids or snack ziplock bags on the outside perimeter of your house (i actually use & have recommend others to use the small snack zip lock bags - zipping it almost most closed) Place these on the OUTSIDE of your home. Otherwise, the 'call' will go out and they will be all over inside your house. Not good. The key is to place them every few feet outside of the foundation.
The worker ants will take the mixture off to the queen ant. She eats it - dies - and they have to go find a new queen. Somewhere else!
We used to have them abundantly in our kitchen and even trecking off with the dog's food. Yuk. Tried every other approach with no avail. This is the ONLY one that worked. Good luck!

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water.
I found the information at http://www.pests.in useful

Just like slugs and flies, put out some beer in a bowl to attract them. Very humane. Just figure out which type of beer your ants prefer! Domestic or imported.

I haven't ever tried this, but I hear it works really well. There is a website that sells pest control stuff and they have a line of all natural products called botanicals that are supposed to be really good at killing bugs. I have only used chemicals though. Good Luck!

Find the ant path, boil water, pour boiling water throughout the path, and they will never come back. Sounds crazy I know, but it works.

Citrasolve (orange natural cleaner in a spray bottle)
Lavender (they hate it, I love it...go figure)
Peppermint Oil (I love this one too)
Tea Tree Oil (ditto)
Coffee Grounds (sprinkle these bad boys around the perimeter of your home, and in window sills & stuff)
Good luck!

Mix equal amounts of sugar, cornmeal, and boric acid together. Put in small containers in cabinets away from animals. This is good for all kinds of roaches also.

Yell boo and scare the little devils to death! If that fails, close your eyes and spray them with a chemical insect killer.
