I don't hunt, but my husband hunts wild turkey, bear, and deer. I used to think it was cruel, but after I went with my husband a couple of times I realized that when an animal is shot, it dies a much quicker and easier death than animals brought to a slaughterhouse or deer that get old enough to get slow and be unable to avoid coyotes. Wild game is very nutritious and much easier to digest, especially for pregnant women and people with diseases of the digestive system. Hunting feeds my family! And hunters who are only interested in the trophy parts (hide, antlers, etc.) can donate the meat to several programs that use it to feed hungry families. Of course, there are always those irresponsible people who make all hunters look bad by poaching, ignoring property laws, littering, or taking bad shots and risking wounding an animal rather than killing it. But overall, I think hunting is a great tradition that goes back to the beginning of mankind, and is still necessary for a lot of families who would not otherwise be able to afford pricey grocery store meat.

That all depends. If they are wild animals and are not endangered, I am OK with it as long as it is being done for food. For example, hunting deer (which are plentiful) because you like to eat venison would be alright in my opinion, but only of you are able to eat what you kill (such as one or two deer, not 10). I am against "trophy hunting". I believe that hunting any animal strictly for it's pelt, or so that you have a nifty head to mount on your wall, is a waste. Also, I think that if a hunter is not sure he can make a clean shot and kill, that he should not shoot. The animal should die almost instantly. Unfortunately, some are shot in a non-lethal part of the body and then run away, and bleed to death sometime later or die some other horrible death.

I really get pissed off with people who hunt for fun only. They seem to enjoy seeing animals getting hurt. They think that it is a fair fight but what chance does the animal have against someone with a gun?

I do not have a problem with hunting for meat. At least then they have a proper reason to kill. I do have a problem however with people who kill just to say "Hey, I killed a lion, bear or whatever"

There are some places where they raise lions for the sole purpose of putting them in an enclosure and allowing someone with too much money to go in and kill them. I would really like to kick someone like that in the mouth!

I love it. I hunt and everyone in my family almost, hunts. It's a tradition we need to know just in case. I couldn't imagine not knowing how to kill something and taking care of myself out in the wild. As a sport it is good as long as it's done with respect.

There are two types of people who kill animals for sport: hunters and poachers. Poachers are usually indiscriminate shooters that don't follow the game laws and kill wildlife in a reckless manner. Hunters were the first to start setting aside areas for wildlife conservation of both game and non-game species. They imposed a tax on themselves to do this.

Basically, there would not be much wildlife left in the United States if it were not for the intervention of legitimate hunters.

cruel.
what would we feel if all the deers and the Foxes come armed with guns and ridding on horses in the middle of the night to hunt the humans when we are just minding our own business.
if all the hunters are hungry and looking for food, then its alright, hunting as a sport id just cruel. i hate it.

I hate it. When people say they hunt for the sport it pisses me off. It would be a sport if a deer had a gun in their hands and was able to shoot back!!

I'm all for hunting deer because I'd rather them be used as meat instead of road kill.
